My Katadyn Water Maker

"No more plastic bottles! We have been desalinating our drinking and bathing water from the sea for over 2 years now. By making our water from the Caribbean waters surrounding us, we have managed to prevent over 6,740 16oz plastic bottles from ending up in a landfill or floating around in the sea. At 5 bottles of water per day per person, that is a LOT of garbage! Do your part and recycle, or get an AWESOME Katadyn water maker! We hooked ours up to our 12V battery system and it can produce about 1.5 gallons per hour. We love it! Thanks, Mackin Marine!!!" ----Lauren aboard Maoti

Mosaic Mirrors

Sailing in the Caribbean has given me the inspiration to pick up a new hobby. This mosaic mirror now resides in Laura Lynch's house, so you'll have to visit her to see it in person. I have a few more listed on etsy and many more in the works.

Lauren and Ken's Wedding Day

We were married on June 5, 2010 on Folly Beach with the party at Folly Breeze, Ken's parents' house. We had a one day honeymoon in the Great Smokey Mountains and spent most of the next day driving through the National Park. What a nice change from the beach. No bears were spotted, but we did catch a border collie along the way! It's a good thing the resort was dog friendly.

Hunter Lett

Meet the newest member of our family! Hunter Lett was welcomed to the world yesterday, July 5, 2010. Grandma Diane and big bro, Griffin, checking him out for the first time. Congrats to Jennifer and Alan.

Lauren's Bachelorette Party at Churchill Downs

Lauren, Diane, and Kelly enjoy A Day at the Races at Derby time in Kentucky. The bets were on when 16 Ladies arrived to the Skye Terrace for the day. With hats in tow, they spent most of April 29th betting on purebreds at the Downs and sipping Lilly's and Mint Juleps. Fun day, girls!

April 2010

Visiting Kentucky in late April is the best time to see my home state. The Derby festivities are in full swing, including the Marathon, Thunder over Louisville, the Pegasus Parade, The Oaks, and of course, The Kentucky Derby. The Oaks turned out to be a beautiful day, but look out for tomorrow's 2 inch rain prediction! Kelly, I hope you had fun at the Governor's Gala!

City Girls Go Rustic

Greetings from Culebra again! We spent last week with Laura, Mary, and Lisa and had a fabulous time. Lots of chickens, Puerto Rican rice and beans, and cocktails galore! We took a day sail aboard Maoti to visit Dakity Harbor and then paid a visit to the Sand Bar (won't find much alcohol here) with Jake, Lisa, and Laura!! The girls stayed in a cottage at Flamenco Beach and spent their last night in Old San Juan touring the city and the fort. Good times.

Heating and Air

While Ken wires in the hot water heater for another Christmas in the Caribbean, Lauren and Jake enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon aboard Maoti. We are currently residing in Culebra, PR in Dakity Harbor with our bow facing due east being sure to scoop up the rekindled trade winds for our day time organic air conditioner. By nightfall, we are ready for a warm freshwater shower and are even pulling out the blankets to top the lonely sheet on the bed. Winter is here!

We have taken a caretaking position during the week for an estate overlooking Bahia Mosquito where we tend to the property and the dogs. Jake has been quite taken by his new playmates and their freshwater swimmimg pool. Life is great for all of us.
